Most of my names come are linked to something from "out west" as I was born in Colorado and raised in New Mexico (USA). Although some are biblical.

Jedediah Strong: W/E after famous mountain man/explorer/trapper of the mid-1800's Jedediah Strong Smith.

Gall Stone: N/Me after Gall (Pizi) famous Sioux warrior chief. I didn't like his last name though, and well, "Stone" certainly goes with Gall. ha.

Kitt Karson: R/Me (deleted) after the famous indian fighter.

Llando Sackett: R/Rt after the Louis L'Amour character of the same name.

Saul Blackheart: Mo/Me after King Saul from the Bible and the last name after Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

Jester Vile: A/R absolutely no connection with anything, just liked the name although the inspiration for Jester probably came from Top Gun.

Temperence Vile: Rt/Mo she is Jester's little sister. And totally set against anything that has to do with alcohol or synthetic highs (look up "temperence" in the dictionary...heh)

Merlin Wildsmith: Me/N what better name for a wizard/magician than Merlin? And Wildsmith was a wizard from early european days.

Rohman Malachi: E/Me both came from the Bible. The first name I obviously just added the H to make it more "cool" looking (ha) and the last just thumbed through till I found a name that I thought was a fit.

I like to role play all of my characters. Anytime I "speak" for them, they are in character. If I have to "wake" Jed up because someone else can't complete a mission he gets mad. He believes everyone should be able to hold their own. He is also a bit of a loner and sometimes gets a touch of cabin fever...thus his sour disposition. He is happiest when swinging his hammer against the skull of an enemy combatant. Both he and Gall Stone are around 76 years old (just over a year in Guild Wars game age....).

Jester thinks he is WAY tougher than he is, but can certainly hold his own in a knife fight. Getting ready to train him in the art of the bow however. I have a great A/R build that I am itching to try. He is native Canthan.

Temperence is the naturalist of the entire group. She does not particulary like her brother Jester because of his taste for the "wild side of life". Her favorite thing to do is head out in the hills conjuring spirits and researching various natural healing techniques. She has an inner power that is second to only to Gall's. She is native Canthan, but has a strong desire to travel to Tyria to extend her research.

Gall Stone revels in the stench of decay and the feel of blood....either his or someone elses. Nothing makes him happier than to watch an enemy just wither to nothing after being hit with multiple blood spells, which are his favorite. Misery brings him joy and he seems to be happiest deep within the Undercity because it reminds him of the Catacombs of Tyria where he learned his craft. He always has and always will wear all black. If he even HAS a friend, it would be Jed. They arrived in Cantha together. He hates Saul for obvious reasons. Gall was a suspected conspirator in the downfall of the Kingdom of Ascalon although he steadfastly denies that assertion.

Rohman and Merlin are twins born nearly two years apart. For some reason the their birth (or more exactly Merlins) and their mother's labor was started then delayed. Most shaman and doctors of Tyria believe it had to do with the emotional trauma she suffered when the Searing hit right as she was giving birth to Rohman. The brothers are now inseperable. Neither can stand to be in the same room as Gall (whom they met as young men), and Merlin actually tried to kill him shortly before coming to Cantha. Gall has sworn a blood pact against them both.

Llando Sackett is a pioneer. He has never spent an entire night inside the walls of a city. At 37 years of age that is an accomplishment. Abandoned at birth, he was adopted and raised in the Echovald Forest for 6 years by a Kurzick woodcutter named Marrs. That man, the only family Llando ever knew, ended up dead at the hands of a Luxon priest. Llando stayed in the only home he ever knew and has sworn vengeance against any and all Luxon he crosses. He learned the ways of the Forest from the formidable race of Wardens that inhabit that same place.

Merlin Wildsmith. A born actor. He can dance, mime, sing, and plays an amazing 24 different musical instruments, 6 of which he designed and built from rare materials (and which are rumored to only be usable with magic). He has greater control of the mind than any of his peers. It has been said that he can utilize nearly 85% of his actual brain. Loves nothing better than to take a foes own spells and turn it against them. A Tyrian by birth, he believes that it is in Cantha where his destiny of greatness lies.

Saul Blackheart is an anomaly. A holy man of the highest order. He abstains from nearly everything that the "physical" world can provide. He wears only a loin-cloth, preferring his body suit of magical tattoos to clothing. He eats a minimlist diet of various roots, berries, and other edible plants and drinks only water that has been purified through holy rites in a temple. He has gained knowledge of every spell, hex, prayer, and skill that is known to those of the Monk profession. His name was originally Saul of the Good Heart until he was blamed for the murder of 6 priests at the monastary where he lived and studied high in the Shiverpeaks of Tyria. He never admitted nor denied the killings, preferring to take his ex-communication from that Brotherhood in silence, whereupon he changed his name to match the feelings in his soul. He has tied the deaths of those priests to the workings of one Gall Stone. Many have said that the two were working together. He hates Gall as much as Gall despises him.

Cyrus Colstone (warrior) - named after Cyrus the Great, King of Persia, the guy who conquered Babylon...Coldstone, an inversion of a board name i used when i met my guildies...

Zanven Stifetamer (ranger) - D&D name generator...

has a pet stalker named Dante (DMC)

For my main character i use the name Mesiance Talith.
Means nothing at all, just something I made up because i hate having a common name as someone else :P
A few people have asked if it was french though

My other characters usually have names that relate to my nickname (RL) "Kiri"
such as Akai Kiri - who is a character from an anime i like and Kiri yama which is a character from a wicked movie

With the exception of Snipe... Most of my names are spanish words.

For example:

My Warrior's name is Rompe Cabecito (Little Headbreaker)
My Mesmer's name is Travi Esa (trickster)
My Ritualists name is Nov Eonada (No Veo Nada...I don't see anything)
My Elementalist's Name is Ter Rem Oto (earth quake)

But really the only name I put much thought into is the character my wife was going to play. Her name is Rachel (which means 'Ewe') and she's a dancer so I named the monk, Ewelyn Baile.

Lialla Shadowfell, I made this up at the spur of the moment, but I had always liked the surname shadowfell, so I used it. She's a necro, and has a black moa, named Morticia.

Lillith of Babylon..clearly misspelled by one L, but 'lilith of' was already taken, oddly enough, this person contacted me, and threatened to sue me (I swear to god) If I didn't stop using the name immediatly. ..She has a spider that sadly, I haven't taken out in a long time, named Naamah.

Cynnamon Gurl, a pun on the Neil Young/Type O song, Cynnamon Girl. My ex bf loved the song and repeatedly told me how much it reminded him of me, well.. he is gone, but I still have the character.

Aeon Fuxx, obviously mispelled, but the one I wanted was taken. I don't even know If I intend to keep this character, tbh.

Hanoi Hannah, my ranger. I made the name during FPE because everything was so dang asian.... She has a white tiger, named Sekhmet

Hong Kong Hannah, my ele. In the same vein as above.

Myself and my guildies migrated to Guild Wars from another MMO called Star Wars Galaxies. Most of us opted to use the same names we had there or some close variation of it for our mains.

Even on Ventrillo we call eachother our original first names from there. Yesterday while in a PUG with a guildie he kept calling me Skawtt .....I was on my new Assassin.

Skawtt Kehar W/N. Star Wars Galaxies Bothan Jedi.

Quint Kehar R/E....Mule

Nexu Grin. Assassin Name of a Tera Kasi attack I cant remeber what one just remember seeing Skawtt Kehar hits XXXX Kehar (my brother) with Nexu Grin for an X amount of damage in the combat log.

Pope Kehar Mo/R Mule. Chosen because Skawtt was the Anti CU furry Pope of Gorath.

Xiang Jiao: Monk I got this off a fortune cookie it means banana in Chinese.

Sadeath Blode - my necro female, just random, thought it was cool enough
Radeath Blode - my assassin female, as sadeath, almost the same name, thats the only reason
Quan Dake - my mesmer male, only dake means something, i have used Dake as a nick and it seems as it's bringing me luck somwhow.....lol
Banana Smasher - my warrior male, funny name for funny warrior, as short as a warrior can be

My character names are based on characters I played in another game. For names of pets I usually refer to this Elfnames website.

Shala Jarias (Necromancer)
Her name comes from the Demoness that I played in a game called Neverwinter Nights. And because I liked the name + character so much I decided to keep it.

Hail Fall (Monk)
The name suggests an Elementalist but I created a Monk because I needed a Healer (and I-monk). Hailfall has been my nickname for almost 3 years and I used it on a lot of forums.

Hope Starraiser (PvP character)
Together with my fiance and his friends we have a group named the Starraisers. Basically a bunch of friends who share same interests. The last part of the name is the same but in my case Hope was chosen because there was still Hope for me.. Hope for a new life...

Lyonna of Ryan (Ranger)
Another character from Neverwinter Nights server. Only her name originally was Ly'Onna Banni'Eplith which is a bit too long.. The name + looks fit my ranger very well.

Hopes Fayth (Ritualist)
Inspired by Final Fantasy 10 with the Fayth, I decided to create a character bearing my nickname Hope and have Fayth behind it.

Calia Kellyan (Mesmer)
My very first character on the NWN server that I played. She was originally a mage but because I do not like the Elementalists that much I decided to make her into a Mesmer instead.

Agamemnon Menalaus (Wammo) - Agamemnon was the king from the story of Helen of Troy and Menalaus was his brother, the true husband of Helen. Thought it was kind of clever

Haldier of the Wood (Ranger) - Haldier was a character from Lord of the Rings, an elvish Ranger type.

Haldier Lorien (Ele) - Wanted a similar name.

Witchdoctor Avignon (Monk/Nec) - Thought the name Witchdoctor tied in both the Monk and Necro parts of his prof. Avignon, was a cruical town in Crusades.

Factions:
Lee Quan Yee (Sin) - Just was anxious to start the preview event and wanted a Japaneese-ish name.

Farms For Balance was my second character name. He farmed for money, to even out the money my elementalist (In Balance) was unable to make at the time.

I have a load of others relating to Balance after that. The only ones that AREN'T related in that manner are Snarling Driftwood and Obsidian Key.
